My top 3 tips for unforgettable NYE’s photos

It seems like just yesterday we were partying like it was 1999 (hold up it was!) and now it feels surreal that in a month we’ll be welcoming a new decade. So even though it may be hard to take great photos in the evening, New Year’s Eve is a great time to practice. Here are my top 3 tips for capturing the sparkles, the smiles and the midnight kisses!

  • Natural light is always best. Given that your celebration will be in the evening you want to try to be as close to light sources as possible but keep the sparkly lights behind you. If you are using your phone flash, remember it only goes 4 feet so get close if you want to use it.
  • Photograph the details. Concentrate on the details and the people. Get close to where the action is happening and try to capture the ambiance. It’s all about collecting and keeping memories with your family and friends.
  • Turn everything into black and white. When you edit, turn your photo into black and white, this will help bring out textures, highlights and won’t make the bad light as noticeable.

But above all, enjoy the time with your loved ones. Remember to put down the phone or the camera and soak it all in – and that is what will make it unforgettable.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2020, friends!
