a few words of thanks.

A few years ago… scratch that, quite a few years ago… ok, almost TWENTY years ago, I met the most wonderful group of friends within days of starting my freshman year at the University of Michigan.   We had fun, a lot of fun, some might even say too much fun, during the course of the next four years of college.

Little did I know at the time, just how lucky I was.  I had met a group of lifelong friends.  Friends with whom I would stay in touch with after college, attend their weddings, and celebrate the birth of our children. I feel so incredibly blessed to have these people in my life.

A few years back, the decision was made to have a yearly reunion.   So, each summer we get together with our families for 5 fabulous days.   Days that fill us back up with that feeling that you can only get when you spend time with people who help make you the best version of yourself.  Friends who make your stomach muscles hurt from making you laugh (or maybe that’s just a tribute to the fact that I am out of shape ;), friends who hold your hands and support you when you cry, and friends who make you feel that emptiness when you drive away at the end of the weekend, longing for the next reunion to come sooner than a year from now.

I am blessed to have these people in my life.  Brilliant, funny, supportive, successful, hard working people who are truly just GOOD people… each and every one of them.   People who are raising amazing children that my kids now get to call their friends too.

So, here’s to you all… one more toast, even though we are once again spread out from sea to sea… Thank you for being you.  Thank you for helping to make me the person I am today.   Thank you for being in my life.  I hope that I can give back to you all even just a fraction of what you give to me.   xox
